Sockapalooza 4

Darling daughter is having one of those days. Just now, she lost her cell phone. She sent me down to the Tai Kwon Do studio to see if she left it there. After much bowing, I still didn't have a phone. Guess where it was? On the bathroom floor. Earlier today, she went to get her nails done, but didn't have enough money. Oh, Mom?

But today was a good day. I got a great e-mail first thing this morning. My sockapalooza pal said my package was mailed today! All through this process of putting together a package for my sock pal, I never thought about the fact that someone was making something for me. I know, I know, that's the whole point, but I just didn't think about it. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to think that someone out there was knitting something special just for me.

While I was out taking number one daughter her money, I dropped my sockapalooza package off at the UPS Store. What a great place! Those folks are so organized and friendly. I actually like taking my shipping there.

Oh yeah, here's a picture of the complete package. I hope the socks fit. Do you think she'll like it?

I'm trying to do the toe-up widdershin pattern. I've followed your chart, but am having trouble. On the turn heel . . .knit to 2 stitches before marker, "increase 1" . . . do you mean make one, like you did in the gusset increase? then you knit one, turn, bring yarn to opposite side, and place marker. I do that, but when I return to k2tog after removing marker, I only have one stitch between markers . . nothing to k2tog with!! I've rippped back to placing the yarn markers, and don't know how to proceed. I've used a total of 72 stitches, 36 on sole and top needles. HELP!!

Thank you. I didn't see your e-mail address, so Im doing this.

I love those socks! What a great package. If I start now, do you think I would finish in time to participate in the next sockapalooza? mary Lynn

Hi there Amy! I guess I do need to find a way to get my e-mail address on my blog.

So...to answer your question..I use either a make 1 (where you lift the strand between the stitches) or a lifted increase when I do the heel. I think I was intentionally vague since it doesn't really matter which you use.

Be careful with your yarn overs and markers...it is really easy for the yarn over to slip to the other side.

Also...when you bring your yarn to the other side, it really is a yarn over the needles. That way between the markers you end up with a real stitch and a yarn over. Knitting the two together closes the little hole made by the yarn over.

Does that help? Feel free to write at this weakly hidden mail address k2k2karen with the mail provider of gmail.com

Hi, I've just found your blog from a 'borrowed' trip in Ravelry and I love all the bits and bobs you've been knitting and spinning. How much yarn did you use for your Adult Suprise Jacket?

Hi Kath. Welcome to my blog. I really don't know how much yarn was in the ASJ. I ordered a sampler from the Woolery and just started spinning. I'm guessing about 1800 yards.

What a lovely package. I can't imagine anyone being disapointed with just your gorgeous socks. The chocolate, yarn and Ella just puts the package over the top!

Hi Karen! I do LOVE my sockapalooza gift box! You spoiled me! The socks are great and I can't wait to start knitting up the yarn. I also love the monkey stuff! Thanks so much!

I am doing as the pattern says, but the sts end up in front of the new marker. There is only one sts and the yo behind the marker with the increased sts in front of the marker. Is there a video showing this? I have made many heels like this with n problem so I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong.
